FAQs

Simply put – yes.

With recent changes to the normal way of things, we have found ourselves turning many a dingy basement into a light and airy office.

If your basement ceiling is currently too low for you to consider it to be a ‘real’ room, don’t worry. During the quoting process, we’ll be able to tell you roughly how much height you’ll be able to gain. Most of our basement conversion customers gain around 4 inches in head height.

Well, there’s a bit to it but we can help you through every stage. Often your damp old basement will need drying, digging out, tanking, a pump fitting, insulation, boarding and ventilation. This may sound like a lot of work, and it is but it is often the cheapest way to extend your living space.

The final cost of a basement conversion can vary quite a lot, depending on the size of the space, the current state of repair and the fit and finish requested. As a rough guide, most basement conversions cost around £1100 per square meter, depending on fit and finish.

With years of experience converting basements into liveable spaces, we’re often called upon to work with other builders. During these builds, Peake Refurbishments deals with the tanking and other technical areas, before handing over to your builder for the rest of the work.

Equally, you might be interested in completing the build yourself, once all the more technical work is done to a high standard and signed off by the correct authorities.
